Jennifer Hopper was born Jennifer Nesbitt, November 21, 1983 in Brockport, New York to John and Joanne Nesbitt. Raised in a strong farming community in Lyndonville, Jennifer grew to be an accomplished equestrian, beginning at age four, and competed at the New York State level consistently into her teen years. Her other love, music, was a noted talent in high school where she participated in both chorus and band, and excelled with private piano lessons.
It was her childhood vision of Jesus that caused her to commit her life to Christ at an early age. After her parents found a renewed passion for Christ when revival swept through their western New York town in the early 1990’s, Jennifer began leading worship at Calvary Assembly of God in Medina. Her skills as an accomplished pianist and vocalist flourished in this season, as did her heart to serve the local church.
Following high school, Jennifer attended a semester at Elim Bible Institute in Lima, New York, and interned with Joshua Revolution in Niagara Falls in 2001. Eventually, she was hired on staff, singing during the ministry’s city-wide youth conferences in Washington DC, Niagara Falls, Buffalo, Ft. Lauderdale and Birmingham. She was one of the co-founding members of vocal group Amazing Love, and MC’d many of Joshua Revolution’s main events.
Jennifer released a privately recorded demo of cover songs in 2002, and upon meeting her husband, Christopher Hopper’s bio, the pair recorded their first duet while engaged, Falling For You (AireFire Records, 2003), and released the project on their wedding day (December 20, 2003). Jennifer went on to release her first full-length solo worship album, Written In The Sand (AireFire Records, 2005).
Jennifer appeared as a background vocalist (as Jennifer Nesbitt) on her husband’s first live album (pre-marriage), Christopher Hopper Live! (AireFire Records 2002), and again following their marriage on his second live album, Dialed In (AireFire Records, 2005). Her vocal work also appeared on the Christopher Hopper Band’s release, Heaven Meets Earth (Sprig Music, 2010), which would go on to be recorded with French vocals in Switzerland as Le Ciel Touche La Terre (Jeunesse en Mission, 2010). (Watch highlight reel).
Aside from stateside travel, Jennifer has toured in Switzerland, Spain, France, Belgium, Holland, Scotland, Ireland, Malta, Guatemala, Mexico and Canada.
Upcoming projects include her second featured worship album with her husband, this one to be released simply under their own names, Christopher and Jennifer Hopper, and her next solo project highlighting her longtime love for jazz and R&B. Both projects are due out later this year under Sprig Music’s website.
