We are gathering together on Friday nights at 8pm to discuss stories, themes and people in the Bible. The format is a fluid discussion over coffee, (or your beverage of choice) in a neutral place (Panera Bread in Watertown) in order to keep things comfortable and take away the pressure of a church or home setting. It is just a bunch of people having a discussion about something we all have in common and learning from each other. As with any other gathering of friends, attendance is expected, but not mandatory. Since each discussion is related to, but not dependent on the discussions that came before, there is no ‘falling behind’ to worry about. We corporately read a passage, or passages and then get together to discuss how we see it and how it relates to our lives. As the facilitator, I have the responsibility to keep the discussion on track, but we have been known to travel far and wide to get there. Altogether, it has been a very entertaining time.
For the new Season, we are going to be discussing prayer. In order to do that effectively we will be examining the two best prayers in the Bible; David and Jesus and occasionally looking at some particularly interesting examples from other folks as well. What I am hoping to get out of this is a better understanding of prayer and the how and when of prayer. We get the most of God when we go out to meet Him, and He will only come to us when we look for Him.
We are hunting God this season.
